India’s Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited has delivered the 1,000th indigenously produced T-90(IM) tank to the Indian Army, marking a major milestone in domestic armored vehicle manufacturing. Produced at HVF Avadi, the T-90(IM) program now incorporates approximately 80 percent localized components, including engines, electrical systems, cooling architectures, and other critical subsystems. The milestone supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by reducing reliance on foreign defense supply chains while strengthening long-term operational sustainment for the Army’s armored corps. The T-90 Bhishma remains one of the Indian Army’s primary frontline battle tanks alongside the T-72 and Arjun platforms.
