Romania has selected Rheinmetall’s Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicles in a deal valued at approximately €2.6 billion. The procurement includes 232 tracked vehicles under the EU SAFE program, with an additional 66 units planned through national funding. The KF41 features a modular design separating drive and mission modules, allowing rapid reconfiguration for multiple roles. Powered by a 1,140-horsepower engine, it carries a crew of three and up to eight troops. Equipped with the Lance 2.0 turret and a 35mm cannon, it can integrate missiles, loitering munitions, and electronic warfare systems. This acquisition is part of Romania’s broader defence upgrade in response to regional security challenges.
