The US Army has awarded AM General a follow-on contract worth $126.5 million for the production of additional M1165A1B3 Humvees, a move that boosts the total value of the ongoing program to $3 billion. The Pentagon has not disclosed the exact number of vehicles ordered, but they will expand the Army’s sizable fleet of over 120,000 Humvees currently in service.
Production of the vehicles will take place in South Bend, Indiana, with final deliveries slated for completion by August 2027. AM General will carry out the program in coordination with the Army Contracting Command at Detroit Arsenal, ensuring all requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.
In parallel to this US contract, AM General has entered into a $150-million agreement with the Israeli government for the supply of Humvees. Deliveries under this contract are expected to begin later this year as Israel moves to replenish military ground systems impacted by the conflict with Hamas in Gaza.
Beyond battlefield replenishment, the Israeli procurement is also part of a broader effort to enhance the country’s preparedness against future regional threats. Together, these deals highlight the continuing global demand for the Humvee platform and reinforce AM General’s role as a key defense supplier to allied nations.
