Sweden and Finland have placed a joint order for more than 300 additional Sisu GTP 4×4 armored vehicles, further strengthening their shared Nordic defense cooperation. The new acquisition, valued at approximately 2 billion Swedish krona ($211 million), increases the combined fleet to over 600 vehicles, covering a wide range of mission-specific variants such as single-cab transport, air-defense platforms, command vehicles, medical evacuation units, and CBRN-detection models.
According to the manufacturer, the extra vehicles will be delivered within the same schedule as the earlier order, made possible by significantly expanded production capacity. Deliveries to the Swedish Armed Forces are planned for 2026 to 2028, ensuring both nations receive their vehicles in parallel and maintain synchronized modernization timelines.
The Sisu GTP is designed to excel in extreme off-road conditions, operating reliably across mud, snow, and rugged terrain. Its independent suspension system, combined with differential locks on every axle, allows it to tackle steep obstacles and uneven surfaces with superior traction and stability. Optional equipment such as a winch, traction chains, and a Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) further enhances off-road mobility by enabling on-the-move tire-pressure adjustments.
Offering a ground clearance of 0.4 meters, a 45-degree approach angle, and the ability to handle 60% gradients, the vehicle delivers impressive performance across difficult environments. Powered by a robust Mercedes-Benz OM926 six-cylinder diesel engine, it ensures a high power-to-weight ratio. The Sisu GTP’s modular design supports tailored protection levels with STANAG 4569-rated armor, while add-on kits provide additional mine, ballistic, and CBRN protection for demanding operational roles.
