Sweden has expanded its investment in armored mobility with a new order for 94 additional Patria 6×6 vehicles, following a major 321-vehicle procurement made in March 2024. The fresh acquisition, valued at around 1.5 billion Swedish krona ($159.8 million), is part of the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program. With this latest order, Sweden’s total Patria 6×6 fleet rises to 415 vehicles, set for delivery between 2025 and 2030.

The order includes multiple configurations of Sweden’s locally designated Pansarterrängbil 300, covering troop transport, command and control, and medical evacuation roles. Swedish officials described the expansion as a strong confirmation of trust in both Patria’s platform and the broader CAVS initiative. They emphasized that the program enhances interoperability and strengthens long-term security of supply across participating allied nations.

This procurement adds to a series of recent defense upgrades by Stockholm, including acquisitions of Textron’s RIPSAW M3 unmanned ground vehicles and additional Sisu GTP 4×4 armored platforms. Sweden has been steadily reinforcing its land forces as it deepens cooperation with European partners and prepares for heightened security challenges.

The CAVS program, launched in 2020 and led by Finland and Patria, brings together Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, and the UK. It adopts the Patria 6×6 as its standardized armored vehicle platform, allowing nations to leverage shared industrial participation, reduce costs through joint procurement, and improve operational compatibility. The modular vehicle family can be tailored to a wide range of missions, and the program remains open to new countries subject to the approval of existing members.
