RENK Test System (RTS), a German specialist in military testing solutions, has secured a major contract to deliver a new suite of advanced vehicle test equipment for the Royal Netherlands Army. The agreement was signed with the Dutch Army Maintenance and Logistics Command and supports the modernization of ground vehicle sustainment and overhaul capabilities.
The contract includes a 1,500-kilowatt full drivetrain test rig and three engine test systems rated at 1,500 kW, 700 kW, and 350 kW. These systems will be used to maintain and refurbish a wide range of tracked and wheeled military vehicles, including the Leopard 2 main battle tank and various supporting tactical platforms.
All equipment will be installed at the new Technology Center Land, a purpose-built logistics and maintenance hub currently under construction for the Dutch Army. The facility is intended to replace legacy infrastructure and consolidate test benches, workshops, and technical support functions at a single modern site. RTS’ scope of work covers both the test systems and related building equipment.
While the contract value was not disclosed, RTS confirmed it falls within the double-digit million-euro range. To support on-site construction and integration, the company is partnering with Van Halteren Technologies as a local subcontractor. The award coincides with the Netherlands’ expanding armored forces, including the leasing of Leopard 2A7 tanks and the planned acquisition of 46 Leopard 2A8 variants between 2028 and 2031, as well as broader defense spending increases projected for fiscal year 2026.
