Lockheed Martin and Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence have unveiled Lithuania’s first HIMARS launchers at the company’s facility in Camden, Arkansas, marking a major milestone in Vilnius’ long-range precision strike modernization program. Lithuania originally signed a $495-million contract in 2022 for eight HIMARS systems and later expanded the acquisition with an additional battery valued at $280 million in 2026. The launchers will provide NATO’s eastern flank with enhanced rapid-strike and deep-fire capabilities using GMLRS rockets, PrSM missiles, and ATACMS systems. During the ceremony, Lithuanian and Lockheed Martin officials also signed a joint statement to deepen bilateral defense and industrial cooperation. Full operational capability is expected by 2027, while Lockheed Martin’s new Lithuanian branch reflects growing US defense-industry engagement across the Baltic region as neighboring Estonia and Latvia pursue similar acquisitions.
