Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus has selected French defense company Thales to provide a new radio management system for its PC-7 military training aircraft operating in Europe. This collaboration reflects a strong partnership between the two companies, with both teams working closely to develop a system tailored to the specific needs of the PC-7 program. The new system is designed to support a wide range of operational scenarios, from basic pilot training missions to more complex tactical exercises. It offers seamless integration with various mission systems and ensures reliable communication even in challenging environments. The selection of Thales highlights confidence in its expertise, particularly following its acquisition of Cobham Aerospace Communications, which strengthened its capabilities in secure cockpit communications. The PC-7 aircraft itself has evolved significantly over the years, with the latest PC-7 MKX variant featuring modern digital avionics, a head-up display, and advanced training systems. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney engine, the aircraft delivers strong performance and reliability, making it a preferred choice for several European air forces. This upgrade enhances the aircraft’s operational effectiveness and ensures it remains relevant in modern training environments.
