The Pentagon has selected Anduril Industries to supply at least 3,000 Barracuda-500M cruise missiles under a framework agreement focused on expanding low-cost, mass-produced strike capability. Designed for hyper-scale production, the missile uses commercial off-the-shelf components and modular open architecture systems to reduce manufacturing complexity and supply chain risks. The surface-launched missile can travel more than 500 nautical miles while carrying a 100-pound payload and can be fired from containerized launch systems. The program forms part of the US military’s broader push toward affordable, rapidly deployable long-range strike weapons.
