Peru has ordered an additional Leonardo C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft, expanding its fleet to five units as the country strengthens disaster response, medical evacuation, and remote logistics capabilities. Scheduled for delivery in 2027, the aircraft will be Peru’s first C-27J in the “Next Generation” configuration, incorporating updated avionics and aerodynamic improvements for better operational efficiency. Since entering service in 2015, Peru’s Spartan fleet has accumulated nearly 16,000 flight hours supporting cargo transport, humanitarian aid, and medical missions across challenging Andean terrain and isolated regions. The aircraft’s ability to operate from short, unpaved airstrips with limited infrastructure has made it essential for national emergency response and tactical airlift operations. Peru’s latest order also marks the 100th C-27J aircraft procured globally across 21 operators.
