The US State Department has approved multiple foreign military sales of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) to Israel, Qatar, and the UAE. Israel and Qatar each requested 10,000 APKWS-II guided rocket rounds, while the UAE requested 1,500 guidance kits configured for air-to-air applications. APKWS transforms unguided rockets into precision-guided munitions and is increasingly viewed as a cost-effective solution for countering drones and aerial threats compared to expensive air-to-air missiles. The packages include launchers, warheads, rocket motors, proximity fuzes, training equipment, logistics support, and spare parts. BAE Systems will serve as the primary contractor. Washington justified the emergency approval under national security interests, allowing the sales to bypass the standard congressional review process.
