The United States has approved military helicopter sales worth more than $4 billion to South Korea as Seoul continues strengthening its defense partnership with Washington. The package includes 24 MH-60R Seahawk naval helicopters designed for anti-submarine warfare and maritime strike missions, along with upgrades for South Korea’s Apache attack helicopter fleet. The sales align with South Korea’s broader commitment to purchase additional US military equipment over the coming years while supporting American military operations stationed on the Korean Peninsula. The agreement comes amid ongoing regional tensions involving North Korea and reflects Washington’s continued efforts to encourage allied nations to increase defense spending and military modernization.
