Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has been awarded a $65 million contract to procure materials for 10 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters. This early-stage investment reduces production risks and supports faster manufacturing ahead of full-scale production. Assembly will take place in Connecticut, with completion expected by 2026. Meanwhile, the US Army is exploring extending the fleet’s operational life beyond 2050 through modernization programs involving structural overhauls and upgrades. With over 2,000 units delivered, the Black Hawk remains a cornerstone of Army aviation.
