France is rapidly increasing missile production after military operations in the Middle East exposed critical shortages in ammunition stockpiles. French Air and Space Force operations against drones and missile threats heavily relied on Rafale fighter jets armed with MICA air-to-air missiles, alongside support from Fennec and Tiger helicopters. The operational tempo highlighted the need for faster replenishment of precision-guided munitions and cost-effective counter-drone solutions. French defense authorities are now mobilizing industry partners to expand production capacity while exploring alternative interception methods such as cannon-based systems and laser-guided rockets. Despite the growing operational demand, France also aims to maintain readiness for strategic missions including homeland air defense and nuclear deterrence responsibilities.
