On December 2, 2024, defense tech firm Helsing officially introduced its HX-2 Karma, an advanced loitering munition powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Prior speculation about this system linked it to Germany’s pledge to supply Ukraine with 4,000 armed drones. The HX-2 Karma is an electrically powered precision-strike drone featuring a distinctive X-wing design—four wings and rotors arranged in an X shape—and capable of ranges up to 100 kilometers. Developed with mass production in mind, the system supports swarm functionality and is highly resistant to jamming in dense electromagnetic environments, thanks to its sophisticated AI. Helsing’s design draws heavily from its field experience supporting Ukraine’s defense needs.
