A joint venture involving US-German autonomy and software company Auterion and Ukrainian drone manufacturer Airlogix has begun mass production of more than 5,000 unmanned aerial systems in Germany for eventual use by Ukraine. The programme is being financed by the German government through a contract worth about 300 million euros ($349 million), reflecting Berlin’s continuing investment in Ukraine’s drone capabilities.The production effort includes two different unmanned platforms designed for separate mission requirements. The Seth X is described as a medium-range system intended for swarm operations, allowing multiple drones to be employed in coordinated missions. The second platform, Anubis, is a long-range strike drone reportedly capable of travelling as far as 1,500 kilometres (932 miles) while carrying a 50-kilogram (110-pound) warhead.Initial assembly activities are taking place at a production facility near Munich. The companies are also planning to establish another manufacturing site in eastern Germany, which could increase production capacity and create a more distributed industrial base for the programme. The project demonstrates how European and Ukrainian defense industries are increasingly cooperating to scale up unmanned-system production for sustained military requirements.
