General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) has landed a $99.3 million contract to build next-generation drones tailored for U.S. intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and strike missions. Although detailed specifications are undisclosed, the drone under the GHOST program will feature a hybrid-electric engine with a ducted fan, promising extended flight time and reduced acoustic signature—ideal for high-risk operational zones. The work will be conducted in Poway, California, with project completion expected by August 2028.
