Nigeria has introduced its first indigenous attack drone, developed in partnership with local tech firm Briech UAS. The demonstration, held in Abuja, positions Nigeria as the first country in Africa to unveil a domestically made, armed UAV platform.
The attack drone underlines a broader effort by the Nigerian Armed Forces to reduce foreign dependence and generate homegrown innovations. The vehicle integrates surveillance payloads, precision attack modules, and autonomous targeting systems.
This milestone expands Nigeria’s stand-off and asymmetric warfare capabilities, allowing for remote-target engagement in operations against insurgency actors in regions like the Lake Chad Basin.
