General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) and Hanwha Aerospace have conducted a demonstration of the Mojave unmanned aircraft with the Republic of Korea Army, showcasing what the developers describe as the first battlefield short-field operation by a medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) uncrewed aircraft. The demonstration was carried out at military facilities north of Seoul and focused on the Mojave’s short takeoff and landing capability. During the exercise, pilots operating from ground control stations launched the unmanned aircraft from a conventional runway at the Republic of Korea Army’s 513th Aviation Battalion. The event demonstrated the ability of the Mojave to conduct STOL operations from comparatively short or conventional airfield infrastructure, potentially supporting operations from locations where longer runways are unavailable. The activity also provided an opportunity for GA-ASI, Hanwha Aerospace and the ROK Army to assess the aircraft’s suitability for battlefield operations and its potential integration into South Korean military aviation activities.
