Saab has announced a strategic partnership with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) to develop an Unmanned Airborne Early Warning (UAEW) solution based on GA-ASI’s MQ-9B unmanned aerial platform.

This collaboration merges Saab’s extensive expertise in AEW&C systems with GA-ASI’s advanced unmanned aircraft technology. Under the agreement, GA-ASI will integrate Saab’s AEW sensors onto the MQ-9B, enabling a new persistent surveillance capability that delivers continuous situational awareness over key operational areas.

The unmanned medium-range AEW system will complement Saab’s existing manned solutions, such as the GlobalEye, providing defense customers with additional options, including the ability to deploy AEW capabilities from naval platforms. The system is designed for both independent operations and manned-unmanned teaming missions.

Saab brings decades of proven experience delivering AEW&C solutions to NATO nations and trusted global partners, further reinforcing the credibility and potential of this new unmanned capability.
