Polish defense company Pit-Radwar has introduced the SA-35MM, a very short-range air defense system built around a 35mm cannon and equipped with programmable airburst ammunition. The system’s rounds are inductively programmed to explode at optimal moments, maximizing their effectiveness. This concentrated blast reduces the number of rounds needed to intercept small targets like drones. While it typically takes 24 standard TP-T/FAPDS-T rounds to achieve a 99% success rate against a drone, only seven programmable airburst rounds are needed for a 97% hit probability.
