The US Army has evaluated a new concept involving the integration of FireAnt small unmanned ground vehicles with the M2A4 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. The trial highlights the Army’s interest in using artificial intelligence-enabled robotic systems to support future ground operations.FireAnt developer Swarmbotics AI released footage showing five unmanned ground vehicles mounted on the side racks of a Bradley operated by the Army’s 1st Cavalry Division.The demonstration took place during Pegasus Charge 3, an exercise series focused on evaluating autonomous technologies, tactical weapons, and counter-drone capabilities.The testing supports the Army’s Transformation in Contact initiative, which is intended to accelerate the integration of emerging technologies into operational formations. The FireAnt demonstration provides an example of how small robotic systems could potentially be transported alongside manned combat vehicles and deployed when required.The concept also reflects the Army’s increasing focus on combining crewed platforms with autonomous systems and AI-enabled capabilities.
