Finnish defence company Patria is evaluating the possibility of adding an automated mine-laying capability to its TRACKX tracked all-terrain armoured vehicle. Under a newly signed memorandum of understanding, Patria will examine the integration of its TRACKX flatbed configuration with a mine-laying system supplied by Polish defence company Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne BELMA S.A.BELMA’s system is modular and fully automated, with the reported ability to deploy as many as 600 anti-tank mines in less than 20 minutes. Combining the system with TRACKX could create a mobile mine-laying platform that can be adapted for selected international customers. The initiative also supports Patria’s wider effort to strengthen industrial cooperation with Polish defence companies.TRACKX was developed under the European Union-funded FAMOUS programme, which focuses on improving military mobility and combat vehicle capabilities. Introduced in September 2025, the vehicle is designed to operate over varied terrain and incorporates NATO-standard ballistic and mine protection. It is operated by a two-person crew consisting of a driver and commander and can transport up to 10 soldiers. The platform can also be fitted with a 12.7mm machine gun.Finland, Latvia and Norway signed a statement of intent in July 2026 concerning the potential acquisition of TRACKX. If the programme progresses as planned, serial procurement could begin early next year, providing a potential customer base for future specialized TRACKX configurations.
