Pratt & Whitney has secured a contract to provide its TJ150 turbojet engines for the Black Arrow air-to-ground missile developed by Leidos Dynetics. The agreement comes after the US Air Force officially designated the weapon as the AGM-190A, recognizing it as a new stand-off strike capability. The compact TJ150 engine produces more than 150 pounds of thrust and is designed for rapid production through the use of advanced additive manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing. These production methods allow the engine to be built faster while maintaining strong performance. When integrated into the Black Arrow missile, the propulsion system enables speeds of approximately Mach 0.8 and allows the weapon to operate at altitudes up to 30,000 feet.
