France has advanced its domestic rocket artillery modernization program following the successful first test of the FLP-T 150 tactical ballistic missile developed by Thales and ArianeGroup. The supersonic munition is designed to replace the French Army’s remaining LRU systems and features powered-flight and terminal-phase maneuverability to complicate interception attempts. The missile will operate with the highly mobile X-Fire launcher system, which is intended to provide rapid deployment and interoperability with future battlefield munitions as France works to strengthen long-range strike capabilities.
