India’s Astra Mk3 long-range air-to-air missile program is entering a crucial testing phase as DRDO prepares for airborne integration and live-fire trials scheduled during 2027–2028. Powered by Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet technology, the missile is designed to engage maneuverable aerial threats at ranges reportedly extending up to 350 kilometers while maintaining high terminal energy. Future trials involving the Su-30MKI will evaluate seeker performance, datalink integration, electronic warfare resilience, and long-range interception capability, potentially positioning Astra Mk3 among the world’s most advanced indigenous BVRAAM systems.
