India has carried out the first flight test of the indigenous TARA glide bomb range-extension kit, a precision-guidance solution intended to reduce dependence on imported smart munitions such as Israel’s SPICE bomb kit. Developed by Research Centre Imarat, the system enables standard unguided bombs to perform stand-off precision attacks through the use of advanced guidance and aerodynamic wing assemblies. The TARA kit is expected to be integrated across multiple fighter aircraft platforms, including the Tejas, Jaguar, Mirage 2000, and Su-30MKI fleets, significantly boosting the Indian Air Force’s indigenous strike capabilities.
