Canada has signed contract amendments worth $1.15 billion with Lockheed Martin to extend maintenance and modernization support for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s CC-130J Hercules fleet. The first agreement, valued at $462.5 million, will provide in-service support through 2029, including maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities in Canada and the US. The second contract, worth $684.3 million, will fund the RCAF 105 upgrade program across all 17 aircraft. The modernization package introduces advanced navigation, avionics, communication, and flight management systems to improve safety and ensure compliance with modern military and civil airspace requirements. The contracts are also expected to support over 1,100 jobs across Canada. The CC-130J Hercules remains a key strategic transport platform for the Canadian Armed Forces, capable of carrying over 21,000 kilograms of payload while supporting troop transport, logistics, and humanitarian missions worldwide.
