The United States Army has awarded Leidos a $617-million contract to expand procurement of launchers under the IFPC Increment 2 program. Designed to counter evolving aerial threats, including drones, cruise missiles, and indirect fire, IFPC 2 provides a mobile, layered air defense capability. Mounted on tactical vehicles, the system integrates AIM-9X Sidewinder interceptors, advanced sensors, and a networked battle command architecture. The program’s scale—over 100 launchers through 2029 and a $4.1-billion ceiling—reflects increasing emphasis on protecting forward-deployed forces and critical infrastructure.
