Israel has approved a multi-billion-dollar acquisition program for new F-35 stealth fighters and F-15IA combat aircraft from the United States. The procurement forms part of the broader “Shield of Israel” defense modernization plan aimed at preserving long-term air superiority. The F-35 provides advanced stealth, sensor fusion, and precision strike capabilities, while the F-15IA offers heavy payload capacity and long-range strike performance. The acquisition comes amid increasing regional tensions, including conflicts involving Gaza, Hezbollah, and Iran, where Israeli air power has played a dominant operational role. Israeli leadership emphasized that the new aircraft will strengthen strategic deterrence and ensure the Israeli Air Force maintains technological superiority for decades.
