Turkish defense company Otokar has unveiled the first Cobra II armored mobility vehicle produced in Romania, marking the start of local manufacturing under the Romanian Army’s large-scale procurement program for 1,059 vehicles. Production will continue at Otokar’s facility in Mediaș, where 781 units are expected to be assembled following initial deliveries manufactured in Turkey. During the Bucharest defense exhibition, Otokar also presented its Tulpar tracked infantry fighting vehicle equipped with the proprietary Mizrak 30 turret, alongside a next-generation unmanned ground vehicle developed in cooperation with Romanian company BlueSpace Technologies and Turkish partner Elektroland Defense. The initiative reflects expanding defense-industrial cooperation between Turkey and Romania while strengthening local armored vehicle production capacity within Eastern Europe.
