Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has secured a €140-million contract with Patria to supply Protector RS4 remote weapon stations for the German and Swedish Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) 6×6 programs. The deal includes delivery of several hundred systems through 2026 and beyond. Germany has ordered 876 CAVS vehicles under a $2.3-billion procurement, while Sweden has committed to 94 vehicles in addition to a prior 321-vehicle order. The Protector RS4 is designed to support small- and medium-caliber weapons and can integrate coaxial arms and anti-tank guided missiles. Its fully stabilized 2+2 axis Detached Line of Sight system allows accurate target tracking while the vehicle is moving. Platform-independent by design, RS4 can be deployed on land or maritime platforms. Advanced electro-optical sensors provide configurable day- and night-fighting capability. Depending on configuration, the system weighs between 135 and 190 kilograms.
