The Philippine military is set to receive 12 additional FA-50 fighter jets through a new deal signed with South Korea’s Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), the company confirmed this week. The agreement is worth $700 million, with deliveries due by 2030.

According to KAI, the new jets will incorporate cutting-edge enhancements, including aerial refueling, AESA radar systems, and an array of advanced weaponry. While the Philippine government has not yet made a public statement, this follows the nation’s earlier FA-50 purchase from 2014.

The announcement comes three months after an FA-50 crashed during a combat support mission against communist guerrillas in Mindanao, emphasizing the growing need for modernized, resilient aircraft in ongoing military operations.
