Australia is set to further strengthen the operational readiness of its frontline combat aviation fleet following US approval of a $250 million Foreign Military Sales package focused on training and sustainment. Rather than supplying additional aircraft, the agreement concentrates on improving pilot proficiency, maintenance expertise, logistics planning, technical assistance, and mission support for the Royal Australian Air Force’s F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler fleets. These capabilities are essential for maintaining high mission availability in increasingly contested Indo-Pacific operating environments. The initiative also supports Australia’s continued investment in advanced electronic warfare, particularly through the integration of the Next Generation Jammer system for the EA-18G Growler. By expanding access to advanced training and sustainment resources, the package ensures Australian personnel remain prepared to conduct complex air superiority, strike, and electronic attack missions alongside US and allied forces.
