Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer has rolled out the Republic of Korea Air Force’s first C-390 Millennium transport aircraft, marking the completion of final assembly and a significant step in the program’s delivery timeline.
The milestone stems from South Korea’s 2023 decision to modernize its tactical airlift capability through the Large Transport Aircraft initiative, under which the country became the C-390’s first Asian operator.
In addition to supplying the aircraft, Embraer will provide logistics, training, and sustainment support, partnering with domestic South Korean maintenance companies to ensure long-term fleet readiness.
The C-390 Millennium offers a maximum payload of 26,000 kilograms and can accommodate a wide range of mission profiles, including the transport of troops, paratroopers, pallets, or medical evacuation patients. The aircraft can carry up to 80 soldiers, 60 paratroopers, or approximately 70 stretchers, depending on configuration.
Equipped with two IAE V2500-E5 turbofan engines, the platform supports long-range missions with a fuel capacity of 23,000 kilograms. It measures 35 meters in length, achieves speeds above 900 km/h, and has a range of 6,000 kilometers and a service ceiling of 11,000 meters.
