Saab has secured a contract valued at 1.8 billion Swedish kronor (approximately $189 million USD) from the Czech Republic to supply its Mobile Short-Range Air Defense (MSHORAD) system. This significant defense acquisition highlights Prague’s growing focus on strengthening its national air defense capabilities amid evolving regional security concerns.

Under the agreement, deliveries of the MSHORAD systems are set to take place between 2028 and 2030. The contract includes mobile firing units that utilize Saab’s RBS 70 NG short-range missile platform, accompanied by Bolide missiles. These components will be mounted on the MARS S-330 vehicle, a robust platform developed by the Czech manufacturer SVOS, ensuring a localized industrial contribution.

In addition to the core missile system, Saab will jointly supply a command-and-control system with a Czech defense partner. The integration of an existing radar system already in use by the Czech Armed Forces will complete the MSHORAD setup, providing a cohesive and effective defense shield. This collaboration underlines a balanced blend of advanced Swedish technology and domestic Czech defense infrastructure.
