Dassault Aviation has led a $200 million Series B investment round in Harmattan AI, a defense-oriented artificial intelligence firm, formalizing a strategic partnership focused on advancing AI-driven autonomy for future military aviation systems. The investment underscores Dassault’s intent to embed trusted and controllable AI technologies across next-generation combat platforms.

The collaboration will prioritize the development of supervised and monitored artificial intelligence capabilities for both manned and unmanned military aircraft. According to the companies, Harmattan AI’s autonomy solutions will be integrated into Dassault’s future air combat initiatives, including the Rafale F5 upgrade standard and emerging unmanned combat air system (UCAS) concepts, particularly for missions involving drone control, coordination, and teaming.

Harmattan AI specializes in AI-enabled solutions for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), counter-drone operations, and electronic warfare. The company has already secured programs of record with the French and UK Ministries of Defence, positioning it as a key player in Europe’s growing military AI ecosystem.

The new funding will support expanded operational deployments, the development of new AI-enabled mission capabilities, and an increase in industrial manufacturing capacity. Dassault Aviation will contribute expertise in complex systems architecture, mission system integration in contested environments, and global defense market access, reinforcing European ambitions for technological sovereignty and secure defense software.
