Norway has placed an initial order for 20 Patria 6×6 armored vehicles through the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System initiative. The vehicles will be configured for command-and-control duties and fitted with Protector RS4 remote weapon stations.The procurement includes associated training, maintenance support, and spare parts. Deliveries are scheduled to commence during 2026. Norway has also retained options for a further 40 vehicles equipped for command functions, along with additional RS4 systems.The purchase follows Oslo’s move toward serial production under its framework arrangement with Patria. Norway formally became a CAVS participant in 2025, joining a group of European countries seeking a shared 6×6 armored platform.CAVS was established in 2020 around Patria’s 6×6 vehicle. The program has expanded to include Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Norway, and the UK. Several member states have already received their vehicles, while the platform has also seen operational use in Ukraine.The Patria 6×6 is intended to serve in several battlefield roles and has been designed around a projected 30-year service life. Depending on its equipment, the vehicle can weigh as much as 20 tons and measures roughly 8 meters in length.The vehicle normally carries three crew members and can transport up to 10 additional personnel. A 394-horsepower Scania diesel engine enables speeds of approximately 100 kilometers per hour and provides a maximum driving range of around 700 kilometers.Norway’s participation gives its armed forces access to a standardized armored vehicle family while improving potential interoperability with other CAVS operators.
