Finland and Sweden have agreed to procure Patria’s TRACKX tracked all-terrain armored personnel carrier, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. Field trials will follow delivery, and some testing is expected to be conducted jointly by the two nations. Sweden will receive five pre-series vehicles, while Finland has not disclosed its planned quantity. The countries have also signed a letter of intent concerning potential future serial production. Patria expects full-scale production of TRACKX to begin between 2027 and 2028. The vehicle was developed under the multinational FAMOUS programme, which receives co-funding from the European Defence Fund. TRACKX is intended to combine the mobility advantages of wheeled platforms with the cross-country performance of tracked vehicles. Latvia and Norway had already signed a statement of intent in July 2026 regarding potential acquisition. The vehicle is designed for challenging environments, including deep snow, marshland, and desert conditions. It provides ballistic and mine protection and is capable of amphibious operations. TRACKX measures approximately 7 meters in length, weighs 15 tons, and can transport up to 12 personnel. Power comes from a 360-horsepower Caterpillar 7.1-liter diesel engine. The vehicle can reach 80 km/h, has an estimated range of 500 km, and can move through water at up to 4 km/h. Its design incorporates wide rubber tracks, adjustable hydropneumatic suspension, and a low center of gravity to enhance stability and maneuverability. The platform can also carry a 12.7mm machine gun and incorporates features intended to improve crew protection and battlefield awareness. Patria is marketing TRACKX as a potential successor to older tracked platforms such as the M113 and MT-LB.
