Oshkosh Develops 120-kW Vehicle Power Kit for Military Systems — Oshkosh Defense and Michigan Technological University’s Advanced Power Systems Research Center are collaborating on a Vehicle Integrated Power Kit designed to provide up to 120 kilowatts of electricity at 600 volts DC. The system is intended for integration with the US Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles A2 and could power counter-drone equipment, directed-energy weapons, missile defence systems, command posts and field hospitals. Four prototypes are planned. The partners will initially build and validate two units for government assessment and soldier evaluation before producing two additional prototypes for further trials. Alongside testing, the team will refine the design and prepare manufacturing documentation. The kit is intended to reduce reliance on external power supplies and comply with the Tactical Microgrid Standard, supporting interoperability with compatible field-power systems.
