The European Defence Agency (EDA) has completed the initial phase of its ASCALS program, aimed at developing smart camouflage for military ground systems. The nearly two-year, €1.3 million ($1.42 million) effort focused on materials that adapt to environmental changes to reduce detection by radar, visual, and thermal surveillance systems. The project addresses modern threats posed by increasingly advanced reconnaissance technologies.
