Fincantieri has received a contract to construct two additional Pattugliatore Polivalente d’Altura (PPA) multipurpose combat vessels for the Italian Navy. These ships will now serve Italy, replacing the units initially designated for Indonesia.
The agreement is being coordinated by the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation, with Fincantieri leading the project and Leonardo participating as a key partner. Both vessels will be built in the “light plus” configuration and are expected to be delivered in 2029 and 2030. Construction will occur at Fincantieri’s shipyards located in Riva Trigoso and Muggiano.
The overall contract value stands at approximately 700 million euros ($810 million), incorporating prior work done for the Indonesian order.
