Canberra has selected Rolls-Royce to supply MT30 gas turbines for the Royal Australian Navy’s future Mogami-class frigates under a joint initiative with Japan. The propulsion system, paired with diesel engines, generates around 70,000 horsepower and enables speeds exceeding 30 knots. Additional onboard power will be provided by mtu generators via Daihatsu Infinearth. The MT30 is already widely used across allied navies, ensuring reliability and operational compatibility.
