A group of ten European nations has signed a statement of intent to strengthen cooperation under the Joint Expeditionary Force to counter emerging threats in northern waters. Led by the United Kingdom, the JEF includes Nordic, Baltic, and Western European partners, enhancing security across the High North, North Atlantic, and Baltic Sea regions. The force will operate from maritime headquarters in Northwood, London, and aligns with the UK’s “Hybrid Navy” concept, which integrates autonomous systems such as unmanned escort vessels alongside traditional fleets. The initiative reflects growing regional coordination amid evolving geopolitical tensions.
