Germany and Brazil have finalized a deal to acquire four additional Tamandaré-class frigates for the Brazilian Navy. Construction will be handled by Águas Azuis Consortium, which includes Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, Embraer Defence & Security, and Atech. The program, initiated in 2020 and managed by EMGEPRON, is aimed at replacing aging fleet vessels. Based on the MEKO A-100 design, the frigates feature a balanced weapons suite and aviation capability, with deliveries expected by 2028.
