The United States Navy has awarded a $30 million contract to Fincantieri Marine Group to initiate the Medium Landing Ship (LSM) program. The project includes engineering and procurement for up to 35 vessels based on the Damen LST-100 design. These ships will support amphibious operations, carrying up to 500,000 kg payload with extended range and operational flexibility.
