The Netherlands has moved closer to joining OCCAR, the European defense procurement organization responsible for managing multinational armament programs across Europe. A bill submitted to parliament would make the Netherlands the seventh member alongside Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Dutch officials said membership would strengthen defense cooperation, improve interoperability, and provide access to OCCAR’s framework for managing complex multinational acquisition projects. The organization currently oversees programs ranging from the A400M transport aircraft to advanced electronic warfare and hypersonic interceptor initiatives. The move reflects Europe’s growing emphasis on collaborative defense procurement and integrated military modernization.
