Dutch manufacturer Broshuis has received an order for 15 Heavy Equipment Trailers to increase Denmark’s ability to transport Leopard 2 main battle tanks. The requirement was submitted by Scania on behalf of the Danish Armed Forces under an existing partnership in which Scania supplies tractor units and Broshuis provides the trailers. Deliveries are planned for later this year and will expand Denmark’s military ground-transport fleet to more than 60 platforms. Denmark has already adopted 44 Leopard 2A7 tanks, all of which have been delivered and are operational. The Broshuis HET can carry an 85-tonne payload, rising to 90 tonnes with heavier tractors. Its 900mm loading deck, 600mm suspension travel, hydraulic compensation and auxiliary steering allow it to operate on slopes of up to 18 percent. Broshuis also has contracts for 39 HETs for the Dutch Armed Forces and up to 557 trailers for US forces through 2031.
