The US State Department has approved a potential $425-million Foreign Military Sale to Denmark involving three MH-60R Seahawk multi-mission helicopters and associated equipment. The proposed package includes navigation equipment, magnetic anomaly detection systems, multi-mode radars and missile-warning suites. It also covers spare T700-GE-401D engines, communications-security equipment, logistics support and technical documentation. The deal would additionally provide integration, testing, logistics, personnel training and obsolescence-engineering services. Washington has clarified that the agreement has not yet been finalized and that the proposed transfer would not require additional US government or contractor personnel to be assigned to Denmark. The acquisition would expand Denmark’s existing fleet of nine MH-60Rs, which were delivered between 2016 and 2018. Operated by Squadron 723 from Air Base Karup in Jutland, the helicopters conduct anti-submarine, land-attack and maritime-patrol missions, with some aircraft deployed aboard Royal Danish Navy vessels. The proposal follows Washington’s approval of a separate MH-60R package for South Korea. That transaction, valued at approximately $2.4 billion, covers 24 helicopters that would supplement South Korea’s earlier order for 18 Seahawks. In June, the US also approved a $1.5-billion transfer of MH-60R helicopters to New Zealand.
