India’s Ministry of Defence has signed a $248-million agreement with Russia’s Rosoboronexport to upgrade its T-72 Ural tanks with advanced engines. The deal involves supplying 1,000-horsepower engines to replace the original 780-horsepower units on the aging fleet of approximately 2,500 tanks, which have been in service since the 1970s.
